Solar installers

Show solar ROI before the sales call.

A calculator that takes the homeowner's monthly electric bill, roof orientation, and ZIP code — then sizes a system, prices it, applies federal and state incentives, and shows a 25-year payback chart. The lead arrives at your sales call already convinced.

The bottleneck

What slows Solar installers down today.

Four patterns I see repeatedly across solar installers running on a generic contact-form workflow. The fix isn't a bigger contact form — it's a tool that does the qualification on the page.

01

Your sales team spends 30 minutes on calculator math at the kitchen table. Customers want the number before they invite you in.

02

Federal Investment Tax Credit, state rebates, SREC markets vary by ZIP. A single national calculator gets the math wrong for half your territory.

03

Customers don't know roof orientation or shading. They abandon when the form asks for it without a visual aid.

04

Lease vs. cash purchase vs. loan financing changes the payback math entirely. Most contact forms can't show that.

FAQ

Questions solar installers ask first.

No fluff — the specifics buyers want before booking a call. If yours isn't here, ask on the call.

How does the calculator handle state-specific incentives?

It maintains a built-in lookup table sourced from DSIRE (Database of State Incentives for Renewables & Efficiency). Customer enters ZIP, calculator picks up state rebate + utility-specific incentive + SREC market value if applicable. Updates quarterly. Custom tier includes a self-update admin panel.

Can it show SREC income for states that have them?

Yes — for NJ, MA, MD, PA, DC, OH and others with active SREC markets, the calculator includes projected SREC revenue in the 25-year ROI chart. Conservative assumptions on SREC price ($30-150/MWh based on current state-specific spot price) shown with a disclaimer.

How does it handle roof orientation and shading without confusing the customer?

Visual selectors. Step 2 shows a top-down house illustration with eight clickable orientation arrows; step 3 is a slider labeled "no shade / partial / heavy shade" with example images. Each selection applies a generation multiplier (e.g., north-facing -45%, partial shade -20%).

Can I sell PPA / lease on the same calculator?

Yes — step 4 is a financing toggle. Cash shows full upfront + tax credit timing; loan shows monthly payment + cumulative interest; PPA shows $0 upfront + 20-year cumulative payments. Customers see all three side-by-side; you find out which framing they responded to in the CRM event.
