Redirects. BigCommerce URLs (often /products/name/ or custom paths) need a 1:1 map to Shopify's /products/handle — and BC's built-in 301s have to be carried across too.
Migrate BigCommerce to Shopify cleanly.
A complete BigCommerce → Shopify (or Plus) migration: catalog, customers and orders moved, 1:1 redirects from BigCommerce's URL structure, B2B price lists rebuilt, and SEO preserved so organic traffic recovers inside 60 days.

What goes wrong leaving BigCommerce.
BigCommerce has cleaner exports than most, but the migration still has sharp edges. Five to plan for:
Option sets / rules. BigCommerce option sets and price rules map to Shopify variants + metafields (or Functions) carefully; automated tools mangle complex configurations.
B2B price lists. BigCommerce B2B Edition customer-group pricing rebuilds on Shopify via B2B catalog / Functions on Plus — a naive import loses every customer-specific deal.
Customer passwords. BC hashes aren't Shopify hashes; force-reset at launch with a branded email is the only safe path.
Channels + feeds. BC's native channel/feed setup (Google, marketplaces) needs reconnecting on Shopify so paid and shopping traffic doesn't stall.
What I migrate.
Full data, design, integrations and SEO. In scope by default:
- ◆ Catalog — products, variants, option sets → variants/metafields, images, prices, inventory; bundles handled per-case.
- ◆ Customers — full export with addresses, order history, customer groups; branded force-reset email at launch.
- ◆ Orders — historical orders imported as draft orders or metafield archive for support lookups.
- ◆ Redirects — 1:1 map from BigCommerce URLs (including existing BC 301s) to Shopify equivalents, audited for top pages.
- ◆ B2B — BigCommerce B2B Edition pricing rebuilt via Shopify B2B catalog / Functions; agreed-rate price lists, NET terms.
- ◆ SEO — meta, alt text, canonicals, schema preserved or rebuilt; sitemap regenerated; Search Console resubmission.
- ◆ Theme — custom Shopify (or Plus) theme matched to brand.
- ◆ Channels + apps — Google/marketplace feeds, Klaviyo, GA4, Meta CAPI, payment, shipping, ERP/WMS reconnected.
- ◆ 60-day post-launch monitoring with day-30 and day-60 recovery reports.

How a typical project ships.
Discovery + audit
Read of your current store — platform version, catalog size, top traffic URLs, apps/plugins, integration surface. Output: a migration spec doc with the data model and SEO-preservation plan.
Sandbox migration
Build the new Shopify on a development store, migrate test data, validate the catalog, design the theme. You see working pages by week 2; your current store stays live.
Cutover plan
A written cutover plan — rollback procedure, DNS schedule, redirect deployment, Search Console resubmission. Cutover runs in a low-traffic window.
Monitor + recover
Daily rankings + organic-sessions monitoring for 30-60 days. Recovery report with charts; redirects and on-page SEO adjusted as needed.
BigCommerce migration FAQs.
No fluff — the specifics buyers want before booking a call. If yours isn't here, ask on the call.
How much SEO traffic will I lose?
With a proper 1:1 redirect map (including carrying across BigCommerce's existing 301s), 5-15% temporary dip then recovery by week 8. Without it, a much larger drop. Redirects are the deliverable that protects your rankings.
Can you rebuild my BigCommerce B2B pricing?
Yes — on Shopify Plus, BigCommerce B2B Edition customer-group pricing rebuilds via the B2B catalog feature or Shopify Functions: agreed-rate price lists per company, NET terms, draft-order workflow. On standard Shopify this is limited, which is why I usually quote Plus for B2B migrations.
Will my option sets migrate correctly?
Carefully, yes — BigCommerce option sets and price rules map to Shopify variants plus metafields (or Functions for complex pricing). This is the part automated tools get wrong; I map it by hand and validate against your live configurations.
