Limited export. Squarespace exports products to CSV and content to a partial WordPress-format XML — usable, but the catalog needs normalising into Shopify's model, not a raw dump.
Migrate Squarespace to Shopify without losing rankings.
A complete Squarespace → Shopify migration for stores that need real ecommerce: catalog and customers moved, 1:1 redirects from Squarespace's /shop/p/ URLs, SEO preserved, and a Shopify storefront with the apps, variants and checkout control Squarespace Commerce lacks.

What to plan for leaving Squarespace.
Squarespace is design-led but commerce-limited and semi-closed. Five things that decide a clean migration:
URL structure. Squarespace uses /shop/p/[id]-style product URLs and /shop/ collections; a 1:1 redirect map to Shopify's /products/[handle] is essential to keep rankings.
Product variants. Squarespace variant handling is basic; mapping cleanly to Shopify variants (and fixing SKUs/inventory) is manual care, not an automated tool.
Member areas / scheduling. Squarespace Member Areas, Acuity scheduling, or courses need deliberate Shopify equivalents (apps or custom).
SEO + content. Page meta, blog posts and 301s configured in Squarespace must be extracted and re-applied; they don't transfer automatically.
What I migrate.
In scope by default; trimmed to fit on the scope call:
- ◆ Catalog — products, variants, images, prices, inventory normalised onto Shopify from Squarespace's CSV export.
- ◆ Customers — migrated with a branded account-setup email at launch.
- ◆ Content — blog/pages migrated where you want them kept, with redirects.
- ◆ Redirects — 1:1 map from /shop/p/ and content URLs to Shopify equivalents, audited for top pages.
- ◆ SEO — meta, alt text, canonicals re-applied; sitemap regenerated; Search Console resubmission.
- ◆ Storefront — custom Shopify theme that keeps Squarespace's design strengths while adding real commerce.
- ◆ Feature parity — scheduling/members/courses mapped to the right Shopify app or custom build.
- ◆ Apps + integrations — email, analytics, payment, shipping reconnected; 30-60 day monitoring.

How a typical project ships.
Discovery + audit
Read of your current store — platform version, catalog size, top traffic URLs, apps/plugins, integration surface. Output: a migration spec doc with the data model and SEO-preservation plan.
Sandbox migration
Build the new Shopify on a development store, migrate test data, validate the catalog, design the theme. You see working pages by week 2; your current store stays live.
Cutover plan
A written cutover plan — rollback procedure, DNS schedule, redirect deployment, Search Console resubmission. Cutover runs in a low-traffic window.
Monitor + recover
Daily rankings + organic-sessions monitoring for 30-60 days. Recovery report with charts; redirects and on-page SEO adjusted as needed.
Squarespace migration FAQs.
No fluff — the specifics buyers want before booking a call. If yours isn't here, ask on the call.
Will my rankings survive the move?
With a 1:1 redirect map from Squarespace's /shop/p/ and content URLs to the new Shopify URLs, yes — a short dip then recovery by week 6-8. The redirect map is the deliverable that protects your traffic.
Can you keep my Squarespace blog and pages?
Yes — Squarespace exports content to a partial WordPress-format XML, so blog posts and pages migrate (with redirects). We decide what's worth keeping vs. rebuilding cleaner on Shopify.
Why leave Squarespace for Shopify?
Move when commerce limits bite — basic variants, limited apps, checkout you can't customise, weaker inventory and scaling. Squarespace's design tooling is genuinely good; if you're a small store that loves the editor, I'll tell you if staying is the smarter call.
