You've had a "great vendor" disappear mid-project. The new developer's excuse "the original code is unmaintainable" costs you another month.

How to actually work with a remote Shopify developer.
A working remote engagement with a US brand has a few things in common, regardless of who the developer is. Here's the patterns I run on.
Time-zone math gets in the way. You need overlap that's actually-overlapping, not "I'll respond tomorrow morning your time."
You want a developer who knows your country's payment ecosystem (Shopify Payments availability, currency, sales tax handling).
Communication on slow channels costs trust. Daily Loom updates + weekly demo cycle keeps the engagement honest.
What working together looks like.
Standard for every US engagement, regardless of project size.
- ◆ Daily overlap with US timezones — typically 7am-3pm Eastern, with flex into Pacific morning if your team's on the west coast.
- ◆ Daily end-of-day update (written or Loom) — what shipped, what's next, blockers.
- ◆ Weekly 30-min demo call on Zoom or Google Meet at a time that works for your timezone.
- ◆ NDA-ready, contracts via DocuSign / HelloSign / your standard.
- ◆ Wire / Wise / Stripe Invoice — multi-currency invoicing.
- ◆ Code in your repo (GitHub/GitLab/Bitbucket) from day one.
- ◆ 14 days of post-launch monitoring + iteration on every project.
- ◆ Familiar with the US Shopify ecosystem: Klaviyo, Attentive, Postscript, Meta CAPI, Triple Whale, ShipStation, ReCharge, Shopify Payments, Shop Pay Installments.
US client FAQs.
No fluff — the specifics buyers want before booking a call. If yours isn't here, ask on the call.
What's your timezone overlap?
I work US-friendly hours by default — typically 7am-3pm Eastern (4am-12pm Pacific). UK morning overlap is automatic. For West Coast clients I shift the start to overlap your morning standup if needed.
How do US payments work?
Wire transfer (USD), Wise (USD), or Stripe Invoice (USD). Standard Net-15 or Net-30 terms; 50% deposit / 50% on launch on most projects. W-9 available for clients that need 1099 documentation; I'm taxed in India (no US tax obligation on you).
Are you familiar with US ecommerce stack?
Yes — Klaviyo, Attentive, Postscript, Meta Pixel + CAPI, GA4 with enhanced ecommerce, Triple Whale, ShipStation, ReCharge, Bold Subscriptions, Shopify Payments, Shop Pay Installments. The stack you're likely on, I've already shipped against.
Can you handle US sales tax / Shopify Tax?
For Shopify-managed tax, yes — configuration + state nexus setup. For Avalara / TaxJar / Anrok integration on Plus, yes — both standard. If you have a complex multi-state nexus situation, that's usually a tax-advisor question first, then a dev configuration; I work alongside your CPA.
NDA?
Yes — sign before scope discussion. Standard mutual NDA, or your template. DocuSign / HelloSign / PandaDoc / Adobe Sign all fine.
