Find $4,800 a year hiding in your Shopify subscription.
Most Shopify stores carry $300 to $800 a month of replaceable app spend. Add the apps you pay for, see which can be rebuilt as native theme code, what the rebuild costs, and how fast it pays back.
The estimates come from real replacements I have shipped, not a generic SaaS comparison chart. A 20-minute audit call turns the estimate into a number you can plan against.
Add your paid apps.
Pick from the dropdown or type "Other" for anything not listed. Adjust the monthly cost to match your actual bill. The tool defaults to MSRP.
How the numbers work.
Three buckets, drawn from production replacements I have shipped:
Easy: UI bars, size charts, sticky elements, trust badges. Rebuild in 1 to 3 days. About 95 percent of the subscription cost is recovered.
Medium: wishlist, cross-sell rules, custom forms, mega menus, cart drawer. One to two weeks of work. About 60 to 75 percent recovered after maintenance overhead.
Hard or keep: Klaviyo, Recharge, ShipStation, Yotpo (full bundle), tax compliance. Real product complexity. Audit usage instead of rebuilding.
The build cost shown per app is a one-time engineering investment, not a recurring fee. Payback period is build cost divided by monthly savings. Bring your actual app list to the call for a real estimate. The tool is a fast first pass, not a quote.
Things people ask before the audit.
Just what merchants want to know before booking a call.
How are the estimates calculated?
They are based on real replacements I have shipped on production Shopify stores. The savings percentage assumes a like-for-like rebuild of the features you actually use. Your number could be higher or lower. The audit call refines it inside 20 minutes.
Will removing apps slow my site down?
The opposite. Most paid apps inject JS and CSS that hurt Largest Contentful Paint and Total Blocking Time. Native theme code is leaner. The typical store sees a 0.4 to 1.5 second LCP improvement after a 4 to 5 app swap.
When is it cheaper to keep an app?
Some apps do genuinely hard things: subscription billing, tax compliance, CDP-grade email, carrier-integrated shipping. The cost to rebuild exceeds 12 months of subscription, so paying is cheaper. The tool flags these explicitly.
How long does a rebuild take?
Two days for an easy app, one to two weeks for a medium one. A full 4 to 6 app audit and replacement ships in about three weeks.
What about my data?
It depends on the app. For reviews, wishlists, and customer-state apps, I always run an export-and-import dry run before the cutover. The audit call covers exactly what data needs migration.
What does a full engagement cost?
A typical engagement is $4,000 to $8,000 for a 4 to 6 app audit, native rebuild, theme integration, and 14 days of post-launch support. Payback is usually 8 to 15 months from app-spend reduction alone, before the CRO lift from a faster site.
Turn the estimate into a real number.
A 20-minute audit call walks through your live store, confirms the savings figure against your actual app usage, and gives you a prioritized swap list. Free, no deck.
